For those of you keeping up with our cat, Tuck (the one who's got the kidney disease), we took her to the vet this morning. In the time since we had her in the first time, she's gained 9 ounces. She's on three medications(Which we were informed are "Really expensive, actually") and special food and so far, they seem to be working.

random babbling about the meds )

So, anyway, basically? The cat's doing so much better. She's even being nicer that she has her ENTIRE LIFE. So, happy happy.

Honestly? My faith in humanity has just been restored.

I've not talked about this, because drama is boring, but my mom's cat has been at the vet since Friday. We thought she had a UTI, but they started running blood tests to be sure and we found out she's got Kidney Disease. This means a lot of vet visits, special food, and a lot of money we really don't have, but we're more than willing to put out for our animals. (We are, after all, the house that paid $65 for a rat to get a tumor removed)

While we were standing and talking, I mentioned that the food was going to run about $20 per every two weeks. Kyla (wifelet) said "unless she gets her appetite back and starts eating more". I said, "we'll figure something out." None of us thought more about it, and I went up and paid the $207, flinching a little when they said how much it was.

We were sitting here at home and mom got a phone call. She started crying and when she hung up, I asked what was up.

An anonymous patron of the Vet's office is now paying for anything the cat needs. Any visits, any food, any meds, any surgeries she may have to have in the future... are paid.

This means that Tuck will now be able to have a longer, healthier life. One that will not strain our family's finances.

I feel exceptionally blessed.
